Modern Beach Reveal!

I had a new client ask me to help her furnish her modern beach condo at Wrightsville Beach.

"I want clean and modern", she said.

"How modern?", I asked.

"Very", she said.

"I'm not sure I can do VERY modern", I said.

"Yes, you can," (said very trusting client).

Needless to say, this was a little out of my comfort zone. I was borderline scared. She wanted all white walls, pops of color, sleek and very little accessories. Hmmmm. Once she told me her favorite color was purple, I had just enough to go on... Check it out!

We had the sectional custom made as well to incorporate a chaise and tight seat and back cushions. I wanted it to "float" so it sits on a recessed wood base.

Her sleek fireplace has some interesting settings and can actually warm the room!

Her kitchen is sleek with WoodMode cabinetry, quartz countertops and a killer Arteriors light fixture that is a focal point for the space. We chose glass vertical subway tile in a medium gray to warm it up a little. With all of the white and steel, I wanted to bring in some warm tones. I commissioned Mike Powell of Coastal Cabinets to create a walnut oval dining table top to fit a steel asymmetrical table base.

I love the lines and the structure of this piece. Her master bedroom needed to be unique and I wanted to add a little warmth and an organic element or two. I came up with (quite likely) the strangest headboard request I have ever asked Soundside Carpentry to build. John White followed my instructions to a tee and we ended up with this beauty. I kept the bedding simple, using tones of gray, champagne and blush.

The gray and cream rug softens up the tile floor and Regina Andrew sconces add another modern element, flanking the bed.

She wanted a small seating area where she could relax. We kept it white, but added texture with a sculptural table.

The wood planked headboard continues on the ceiling - yes, it's crazy and I love it!

World's Away chairs are boxy and crisp in white linen.

I love the concept of the master bath. It is all tile and quartz. The tub and shower are all built into one section of the bathroom. Modern tiled boxes are a focal point and function as shelves. The gray and white veined tile is sleek and adds some color.

There is so much more goodness where this came from! We are still working on the guest bedroom and study. Stay tuned for more modern shots of this unexpected beach project! I guess I pulled it off! I can do modern...
